The Time is Right

The time is always right to do the right thing.”

I just finished reading a section of a Martin Luther King., Jr. biography with my son about the Birmingham bus boycott.  I’ve heard this story many times, but it’s worth remembering a few things. He was new to town, and just 26 years of age. Thus, he showed a bit of hesitancy in accepting the role of president of the Montgomery Improvement Association, formed in 1955 in the wake of Rosa Park’s arrest.  Yet he was called and needed, and of course history tells us how he rose to the occasion. I suppose it was with his own experience in mind that he later shared this wisdom, “The time is always right to do the right thing.”
