Early in the week of Thanksgiving, we finally confirmed that we were going to be able to clear the deck and get to the Cape…provided we could still get a reservation at the Chatham Bars Inn and use our Eversave deal before it expired. I seemed to be catching the reservation desk in the evening after they had closed, so gave Twitter a try. Jenn @ChathamBarsInn was super quick and helpful in replying, and we were hooked up with a room.
I had looked at the long rang forecast and saw clear skies. Little did we know how beautiful it would be. As we neared our destination on Saturday afternoon, I saw a red fox scurry into the woods. Sorry, no pics, I was driving. But shortly thereafter, arrived at our destination.
After checking in, we quickly headed to the beach to enjoy the remaining light. No need to get back in the car, it’s a simple stroll across the street from the hotel to their beach. We were surprised to see roses still in bloom as we made our way down!

B. and I were having fun horsing around on the landing above the beach…
But the ocean beckoned and we headed for the sand…
They’d closed the dock for the season, not knowing it was going to hit 60 degrees on Thanksgiving weekend!
Even as the sun was starting to set, it was still unseasonably warm. In fact, I’ve sat on Chatham beaches on many a colder day in August! But we new we had a nice dinner to look forward to, and were ready to check out the hotel more.
